About Pips NYT
The New York Times Games published the domino-inspired logic game Pips NYT on August 18, 2025, following testing in Canada.
NYT's first original logic puzzle, along with Sudoku, introduces a new gameplay using numbers (dots on dominoes, or "pips") to complete conditions in each board area.
How to play?
- Drag and drop: Players drag numbered dominoes onto the board and rotate them by tapping 90° to match the desired location.
- Regional conditions:
"=": area dots must be equal.
"≠": Must have distinct dots.
“>3”, “<8” define the required number of dots in the area.
In some regions, the total dots must be a certain number.
In unconditioned areas, dominoes can be placed freely.
- Each day, there are three difficulty levels: Easy (4-5 dominoes), Medium, and Hard (up to 16).
- Retryability: No time or mistake limit. It's okay to undo mistakes and try again until you finish the game.
- Illustration of gameplay: Clear and easy gaming UI helps players learn rules fast.
